Lake Marion

Lake Marion is the largest lake in South Carolina, covering over 110,000 acres with a maximum depth of 76 feet. It is located in the central part of the state, with parts of the lake stretching into five counties: Berkeley, Calhoun, Clarendon, Orangeburg, and Sumter. The lake was created in the 1940s as part of a hydroelectric project, and today it is a popular destination for boating, fishing, camping, and other recreational activities. The lake is known for its largemouth bass, catfish, and bream fishing, and it also has several marinas and parks along its shores.
